A digital recorder directly derived from the ENERTEC VS1500 series will be the basic fit for the French Air Force fleet of RAFALE fighters, in both single-seat and twin-seat versions, as well as for the French Navy fleet. At the end of an international competitive procurement process led by DASSAULT Aviation, ENERTEC was selected for the supply of the new airborne Digital Video Recorders (EVN) as a replacement to existing analog video tape recorders.

ENERTEC has been referenced since the seventies as a supplier to DASSAULT Aviation, major player in the aerospace industry worldwide, and ENERTEC is proud to carry on this partnership on the RAFALE multi-role fighter. This new contract confirms the expertise and leadership of ENERTEC in the design and production of airborne recorders capable of reliable operation in harsch environment.

The ENERTEC VS1500 recorder is a compact, innovative, mature and reliable product, already selected by US Air Force for the whole A-10 fleet, by BAE Systems for the UK RAF Hawk Mk 128 trainers, by SABCA for the Belgian Air Force Alphajet trainer fleet, by the Finnish Air Force (FiAF) for the Hawk Mk51 fleet, by CMC Electronics for the Raytheon/Beechcraft T-6B trainer, by AIRBUS for flight tests, by DASSAULT Falcon Services, etc.

The VS1500 provides for heavy-duty operation on board fighters, helicopters and UAVs. It is available in several versions of packaging according to the type of installation, and in various input/output configurations according to the type of application (up to 4 videos, 4 audios, 4 MIL-STD-1553B; Ethernet acquisition; GPS, etc). The new 1280x1024 high resolution video interface has been recently introduced within the VS1500 series.

The VS1500 can combine mission data upload and mission video/data replay functions, it can also be used as video server to best meet the network centric operation requirements. The VS1500 is available in the IRIG 106 chapter 10 configuration, and this version is referenced in the US Air Force flight test center inventory.

The ENERTEC VS1500 recorder uses a removable high capacity solid-state memory module, providing for fast data download to PC-based ground station.
